If you feel like you need a little more power than the 690, then stepping up to the 2 1/4 Hp 892 might just be the router for you.  If you plan to use larger profile bits, and do some cabinet door construction, this is a great router.  It will also handle your other smaller demands for routing in the shop.  The 892 features a dedicated knob for easy micro-height adjustments. (to 1/128th) and a bypass control for quick macro-adjustments and motor removal.  This motor is compatable with 890 and 690 router series bases.
